The Multiplus-II 48/5000/70-50 GX is a high-end device combination from Victron Energy (MPN PMP482506000) that combines classic Multiplus components with an external current sensor and an integrated anti-islanding function. This extends the PowerControl and PowerAssist functions to 100 A and widens the potential range of use to ESS applications. The inverter module delivers a full 5000 W with non-linear loads, or 4000 W with continuous linear loads. The 48 V battery charger is also very well proportioned at 70 A charging power and is complemented by a 50 A transfer switch that can switch back and forth between the AC connections in a flash. Compared with the other devices in the series, the GX variants have an integrated GX display with numerous additional connection options.

Always enough power thanks to PowerControl and PowerAssist
A maximum grid or generator current can be set on the Multiplus-II 48/5000/70-50 GX. The MultiPlus-II then takes other connected AC loads into account and uses only the current that is still “left over” to charge the battery. This prevents the generator or grid connection from being overloaded (PowerControl function). With the PowerAssist function, the PowerControl principle takes on a new dimension. Load peaks often occur only for a limited period. In such a case, the MultiPlus-II immediately compensates for insufficient generator, shore power or grid power with energy from the battery. When the load is reduced, i.e. when loads are switched off, the energy that is then available again can be used to charge the batteries.
Solar power: AC power even during a grid failure
The device can be used in off-grid as well as grid-connected PV systems and in other alternative energy systems. It can be used with solar charge controllers as well as with grid-tied inverters.
Maximum flexibility thanks to two AC outputs
The main output ensures uninterrupted operation. In the event of a grid failure or an interruption of the shore/generator power, the MultiPlus-II takes over the supply of the connected loads. Switching takes place so quickly (in less than 20 milliseconds) that uninterrupted operation of computers and other electronic devices is guaranteed. The second output only supplies power when AC power is available at the input of the MultiPlus-II. Loads that must not discharge the battery, such as a water heater, can be connected to this output.
Scope of the integrated GX device
One VE.Can interface. This can be used to connect Victron VE.Can devices (e.g. VE.Can MPPT). The connection can also be reconfigured via the remote console for use with a compatible CAN-bus Li-ion battery.
1x USB port
1x Ethernet port
1x VE.Direct port
Many options for system expansion
The settings can be changed within a few minutes using the VEConfigure software (a computer or laptop and an MK3-USB interface are required). Several monitoring and control options are available: Color Control GX, Venus GX, Octo GX, CANvu GX, laptop, computer, Bluetooth (with the optional VE.Bus Smart Dongle), battery monitor, Digital Multi Control panel.
Remote configuration and monitoring
Install a Color Control GX or other GX products to connect to the internet. The operating data can be stored and viewed free of charge on the VRM (Victron Remote Management) website. If systems are connected to the internet, they can be accessed remotely and settings can be changed.
