Solar connector distributors: selection and advice
With a distributor you merge several cables into one connection, for example to connect panels in parallel. This category contains Y and T distributors for solar connectors.
Count how many cables are to be merged and choose the matching number of connections. Check that the voltage and current ratings suit the system and that the connector system is identical.
Our range includes distributors from the Solarion brand in the versions Y2-1, Y3-1, Y4-1, T2-1, T3-1 and T4-1.
When interconnecting, keep in mind: a parallel connection increases the current, not the voltage, and inverters and cables must be designed for this. The permissible values are given in the data sheets. If in doubt, a qualified electrician can help; work on the mains connection belongs in expert hands anyway.
Also note that every distributor creates additional transitions. Keep the number of plug connections as low as possible and make sure they sit firmly, because loose contacts can heat up.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between Y and T?
They are different designs; the number indicates the connections.
May I distribute any number of panels?
No, the load limits of the inverter and cable must be observed.
Can I mix makes?
We advise against this where possible, even if connectors are called MC4-compatible. Dimensions and contacts can differ, which puts strain on the connection. A uniform connector system throughout the system is safest.
