Important information on the disposal and handling of batteries and rechargeable batteries

As a retailer of batteries or of devices containing batteries, we inform you pursuant to the German Battery Implementation Act (Batterie-Durchführungsgesetz, BattDG) and the EU Battery Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2023/1542) of the following:

1. Obligation to return and free return of waste batteries

Waste batteries and rechargeable batteries must not be disposed of with household waste. As an end user, you are legally obliged to take waste batteries to a separate collection. You can return waste batteries free of charge, for example at the collection points of the public waste management authorities (e.g. recycling centres) and at retailers in your area. We also take back the batteries we have supplied after use (see section 3). Waste batteries sometimes contain harmful substances that can damage the environment and health if disposed of improperly, and valuable raw materials that can be recovered through recycling.

2. Meaning of the "crossed-out wheelie bin" symbol

Batteries and rechargeable batteries are marked with the symbol of a crossed-out wheelie bin. This symbol indicates that they must not be put in household waste and must be collected separately. If the battery contains more than 0.002 percent by mass of cadmium or more than 0.004 percent by mass of lead, the chemical symbol of the respective substance is shown below the symbol: "Cd" stands for cadmium, "Pb" for lead.

3. Return to us

You can return batteries that you have received from us to us after use, or send them back to us by post with sufficient postage (return address: NeueEnergie24, Raiffeisenstr. 8, 97209 Veitshöchheim). Please contact us before returning them.

4. Information on lithium batteries and fire risk

Batteries and rechargeable batteries containing lithium can catch fire if damaged, short-circuited, or stored or disposed of improperly. Therefore, do not put waste batteries in household waste or in the recycling bin. If batteries are damaged, swollen or leaking, hand them in separately from other batteries and speak to us or your collection point before transporting them. We ask that you do not transport battery storage units with a larger capacity (e.g. home storage) yourself, but contact us beforehand. Before handing in devices with built-in batteries, delete your personal data where applicable.

Contact us if you have any questions

If you have any questions about the return and disposal of batteries, we will be happy to help. Simply contact us via our Contact form.
