Information on the disposal of waste electrical and electronic equipment
Information on the Disposal of Electrical and Electronic Equipment
As a distributor of electrical and electronic equipment, we inform private households, in accordance with the German Electrical and Electronic Equipment Act (ElektroG), about the separate disposal of waste equipment.
1. Separate Collection
Waste electrical and electronic equipment must not be disposed of with household waste. As an end user, you are obliged to collect waste equipment separately from unsorted municipal waste and to hand it over to a separate collection. Waste equipment contains valuable raw materials that can be reused or recycled, but also substances that can endanger the environment and health if disposed of improperly.
2. Meaning of the "Crossed-Out Wheeled Bin" Symbol
The symbol of a crossed-out wheeled bin on equipment indicates that the equipment must be disposed of separately from household waste at the end of its life.
3. Return Options
You can hand in waste equipment at the collection points of the public waste management authorities (for example recycling centers and take-back points in your municipality). We are not legally obliged to take back waste equipment, because our storage and shipping area for electrical and electronic equipment is less than 400 square meters (§ 17 ElektroG). We therefore do not take back waste equipment.
Distributors with a sales area for electrical and electronic equipment of at least 400 square meters (for distance selling: storage and shipping areas), as well as food retailers with a total sales area of at least 800 square meters that offer electrical and electronic equipment several times a year or permanently, are obliged to take back waste equipment free of charge. When a new device of the same type is purchased, they take back one waste device free of charge, and waste devices with no external dimension greater than 25 centimeters, up to three items per device type, even without the purchase of a new device.
4. Batteries, Rechargeable Batteries and Lamps
If waste equipment contains batteries, rechargeable batteries or lamps that can be removed without destroying them, remove them before handing in the equipment and dispose of them separately. Damaged or swollen lithium-containing batteries and rechargeable batteries can cause fires; hand them in at a collection point separately from other batteries. You will find further information in our battery information.
5. Personal Data
As an end user, you are yourself responsible for deleting personal data on waste equipment.
6. Registration
We are registered with the Stiftung Elektro-Altgeräte Register (stiftung ear). WEEE Reg. No. DE49436722
