The Victron Energy VE.Bus BMS V2 (MPN: BMS300200200) is the next generation of the VE.Bus BMS for Victron Lithium Smart batteries (LFP-Smart) 12.8V and 25.6V. Every single cell of a LiFePO4 battery must be protected against overvoltage, undervoltage and overtemperature. This is exactly the task that the VE.BUS BMS V2 takes on. The product is suitable for protecting 12V, 24V and 48V battery banks and works in an operating voltage range of 9 - 70 VDC.
VE-BUS BMS V2 in combination with Victrons LiFePO4 batteries
Victron LiFePO4 batteries have built-in cell balancing, temperature and voltage control (BTV). They are connected to the VE.Bus BMS V2 via two M8 round connector cable sets. The BTVs of several batteries can be chained together. They can be connected in series, parallel and both in series and parallel, which allows a battery bank of 12V, 24V or 48V to be designed. Up to 20 batteries in one system are possible, resulting in an energy storage of max. 84kWh in a 12V system and 102kWh in a 24V and 48V system. For further details, please refer to the technical documentation for our LiFePO4 battery.
Core tasks of the Victron VE.Bus BMS V2
- Specially designed for use with Victron Lithium Battery Smart 12.8V & 25.6V batteries.
- Communicates directly with the lithium battery via the battery’s M8 circular connector cables
- Switching off or disconnecting VE.Bus inverters or inverters/chargers via VE.Bus and other loads via the "Disconnect load" terminal in case of cell undervoltage
- Shutdown or disconnection of VE.Bus inverters or inverter/chargers via VE.Bus, VE.Direct and VE.Can solar chargers via a GX device and other chargers via the charger disconnect terminal in case of cell overvoltage, undertemperature or overtemperature.
Difference to VE.Bus BMS
The VE.Bus BMS V2 is specifically designed for use in systems with GX devices, making it perfect for ESS or backup applications with a battery capacity of up to 84kWh (12V) or 102kWh (24V/48V).
The BMS V2 also has a remote contact for remote control (ON/OFF).
Communication with VE.Bus products
MultiPlus, Quattro or Phoenix inverters are connected to the “MultiPlus/Quattro” port using a standard RJ45 UTP cable.
The BMS deactivates inversion in case of undervoltage of the cell and charging in case of overvoltage or overtemperature of the cell
Communication with remote control devices
A GX device (e.g. Cerbo GX), a Digital Multi Control (DMC) panel or a VE.Bus Smart Dongle (including any combination) can be connected to the BMS via the “Remote Control Panel” connector. This accessory can be used in combination with the BMS to remotely control the switching state of the VE.Bus inverter or the inverter/charger (On / Off / Charger only)
Terminals for additional inputs and outputs
The BMS has a dedicated power output (GX-Power) for a GX device and an additional power input (Aux-In) for an external DC power source, e.g. a mains adapter. In the event of a system shutdown, the GX device continues to be supplied with power via the auxiliary voltage input or is disconnected from the mains to prevent further battery discharge
