The intelligent SmartShunt 500A from Victron Energy is a multi-function battery motor that allows you to display all information via your mobile phone or via the VictronConnect app. This means you have easy access to all monitored battery parameters. This includes, among other things, the charging status, the remaining running time, historical data and many other data. There is also the option of connecting the SmartShunt to a GX device, such as a Cerbo-GX or the Color Control GX, and reading information from it. The connection is therefore made via a VE.Direct cable. The Waterproof Battery Monitor also represents an excellent option for BMV battery monitoring, particularly in systems where battery monitoring is required but less wiring and clutter is desired.

Why battery monitoring?
Batteries are used in a variety of applications, mostly to store energy for future use. However, the actual amount of energy stored cannot be read directly from the battery. Factors such as undercharging or overcharging, deep discharging, charging or discharging currents that are too high, and high ambient temperatures can shorten the lifespan of the battery. An advanced battery monitor allows these to be monitored and provides important feedback to you as the user. This means that, if necessary, appropriate measures can be taken to profitably extend the term. The investment in the battery monitor pays for itself quickly.
The VictronConnect app
