Wallboxes (EV chargers): selection and advice
A wallbox charges your electric car faster and more safely than a household socket. Here you will find models for private and commercial use.
Charging power, connection type and house connection are decisive. Consider whether PV surplus charging is wanted and whether a cable should be permanently mounted.
The range includes brands such as Alfen, Growatt, Wallbox, ABL, Fronius, Schneider Electric, Kostal, Huawei and Solplanet.
When planning, it is worth looking at the house connection and parking space: how far is it from the meter cabinet to the wall where the station is to hang, and is the existing fuse protection sufficient? Whether load management is also needed when several consumers run at the same time is clarified by your electrical contractor before you order.
Also check whether the station is to stand outdoors, because then the protection rating and installation location are important. Depending on the manufacturer, a stand or wall bracket may be available as an accessory; the respective product page gives details.

Frequently asked questions
Do I have to register the wallbox?
Charging equipment generally has to be registered with the grid operator, and for higher power an approval is usual. Your grid operator states the exact requirements; your qualified electrician often submits the notification at the same time.
Who installs the wallbox?
Connection and commissioning belong in the hands of a qualified electrician, who also checks the fuse protection and residual current protection. This applies even if the device looks simple from the outside.
Is PV surplus charging possible?
With suitably equipped models, often in combination with an energy meter or the matching inverter. The product page states the respective function; if you are unsure, we are happy to advise you.
