The Smartsolar MPPT 250/60-Tr from Victron Energy belongs to the latest generation of smart solar controllers from the Dutch premium manufacturer. The controller handles a full 60A of solar current and can work flexibly with 12/24/36/48 V batteries, at a maximum PV input voltage of 250V DC. Ultra-fast power tracking and automatic power point detection under partial shading are just 2 of the many highlights of this new class of device. In addition, this model supports parallel operation with other controllers of the same type.
Compared with the Smartsolar 150/XX series, the 250/XX series can handle a maximum PV input voltage of 250V. Compared with the BlueSolar family, the 250 Smartsolar series also has the Bluetooth module permanently integrated in the controller, which makes the Smart dongle unnecessary for this device if you want to analyse and configure the controller via Bluetooth using a smartphone or tablet. Also new is the optional LCD display, which can simply be plugged onto the SmartSolar 250/60-tr when needed. The display then provides all important information about the controller. It safely covers the cable entries and connection terminals of the controller and protects them from external influences and accidental contact.

Smart configuration and analysis via the Victron Connect app
Modern Apple and Android smartphones, tablets, MacBooks and other devices can be connected thanks to the permanently integrated Bluetooth module and the free Victron Connect app. The app can then be used to configure many important functions of the SmartSolar controller. Of course, it also provides all important parameters such as the current solar yield in real time.
Automatic detection of the Maximum Power Point under partial shading
In the case of partial shading, two or more points of maximum power (MPP) can be present on the current-voltage curve. Conventional MPPTs tend to settle on a local MPP, which may not be the optimal MPP. The innovative algorithm of the SmartSolar controller always maximises the energy yield by locking onto the optimal MPP.
High-speed latest-generation MPP tracker
Especially under overcast skies, when the light intensity changes constantly, an extremely fast MPPT controller increases the energy yield by up to 30 % compared with PWM charge controllers and by up to 10 % compared with slower MPPT controllers.
Optional LCD display available for retrofitting
