The Smartsolar MPPT 150/45 from Victron Energy (MPN SCC115045212) belongs to the latest generation of smart solar controllers from the Dutch premium manufacturer. It handles a full 45A of solar current and can work flexibly with 12/24/36/48 V batteries. Ultra-fast power tracking and automatic power point detection under partial shading are just 2 of the many highlights of this new class of device. The SmartSolar 150/45 is also available as a version with MC4 connectors on the solar side of the charge controller instead of screw terminals. In addition, this model supports parallel operation with other controllers of the same type.
Compared with the BlueSolar series, the Bluetooth module of the Smartsolar family is already permanently integrated in the controller, which makes the Smart dongle unnecessary for this device. The optional MPPT WireBox-L Tr from Victron Energy is the ideal addition to your SmartSolar charge controller. It safely covers the cable entries and connection terminals of the controller and protects them from external influences and accidental contact.

Automatic detection of the Maximum Power Point under partial shading
In the case of partial shading, two or more points of maximum power (MPP) can be present on the current-voltage curve. Conventional MPPTs tend to settle on a local MPP, which may not be the optimal MPP. The innovative algorithm of the SmartSolar 150/45 always maximises the energy yield by locking onto the optimal MPP.

Especially under overcast skies, when the light intensity changes constantly, an extremely fast MPPT controller increases the energy yield by up to 30 % compared with PWM charge controllers and by up to 10 % compared with slower MPPT controllers.
