The Smartsolar MPPT 150/100-tr from Victron Energy (MPN SCC010100210) belongs to the latest generation of smart solar controllers from the Dutch premium manufacturer. Ultra-fast power tracking and automatic power point detection under partial shading are just 2 of the many highlights of this new class of device. The devices in the 150/45tr to 150/100-tr classes are also available as a version with MC4 connectors on the solar side of the charge controller instead of screw terminals. In addition, this model supports parallel operation with other controllers of the same type.
Compared with the BlueSolar series, the Bluetooth module of the Smartsolar family is already permanently integrated in the controller, which makes the Smart dongle unnecessary for this device. Also new is the optional LCD display, which can simply be plugged onto the SmartSolar 150/85-tr when needed. The display then provides all important information about the controller. Modern Apple and Android smartphones, tablets, MacBooks and other devices can be connected thanks to the permanently integrated Bluetooth module and the free Victron Connect app. The app can then be used to configure many important functions of the SmartSolar controller. Of course, it also provides all important parameters such as the current solar yield in real time.
Smart data communication via VE.Direct and lightning-fast Bluetooth module
In the case of partial shading, two or more points of maximum power (MPP) can be present on the current-voltage curve. Conventional MPPTs tend to settle on a local MPP, which may not be the optimal MPP. The innovative algorithm of the SmartSolar controller always maximises the energy yield by locking onto the optimal MPP.
High-speed latest-generation MPP tracker
Especially under overcast skies, when the light intensity changes constantly, an extremely fast MPPT controller increases the energy yield by up to 30 % compared with PWM charge controllers and by up to 10 % compared with slower MPPT controllers.
Optional LCD display available for retrofitting
If you prefer to operate and configure the Smartsolar MPPT 150/100-Tr directly, you can retrofit the Smartsolar Control SCC900600010 display. The display allows simple configuration of the controller via keypad and also shows all important performance data at a glance.

The VE.Direct data communication port
