The Phoenix Smart Charger 12/50(1+1) IP43 from Victron Energy (MPN PSC125051085) is a powerful battery charger of the latest generation. The device is designed for a 12V battery voltage and, in addition to the powerful 50A main charging output, also offers a secondary charging output with 4A charging power for a starter battery.
With its integrated Bluetooth module, the Phoenix Smart Charger 12/50(1+1) IP43 fits into Victron's ever-growing Smart family, which can be networked perfectly and also controlled centrally in several ways. In addition to the Bluetooth module, there is also a VE.Direct port and a freely programmable relay. Optionally, the Smart Battery Sense can also be connected to control battery temperature compensation. Perfect battery charger for boats and vehicles
Phoenix Smart battery chargers with (1+1) in the model name have one main charging output with full charging current and one 4A secondary charging output for charging starter batteries. These models are therefore particularly suitable for mobile applications. The Phoenix Smart models with (3) in the model designation were developed especially with the needs of the marine sector in mind and offer three full current outputs for charging 3 battery banks.

Three integrated technologies for thoroughly healthy batteries
Variable absorption phase: always delivers the right amount of charge
With low battery discharge (e.g. a yacht connected to shore power), a short absorption phase is selected to avoid overcharging. After a deep discharge, the absorption phase is automatically extended to make sure the battery is fully charged.
Preventing damage from excessive gassing: BatterySafe mode
To shorten the charging time, the highest possible charging current was selected together with a high absorption voltage. To avoid excessive gas formation toward the end of the constant-current phase, however, the charger limits the rate of voltage rise once the gassing voltage has been reached (see also the graphs in the brochure).
Less maintenance and ageing while the battery is idle: Storage mode
Storage mode is activated whenever no discharge has occurred within 24 hours. In Storage mode, the float voltage is then lowered to 2.2 V/cell (13.2 V for a 24-V battery) to minimise gas formation and corrosion on the positive plates. Once a week, the voltage is raised to the level of the gassing voltage. This achieves a kind of equalisation charge that prevents electrolyte stratification and sulphation - the two main causes of premature battery failure.
Also perfectly suited to LiFePO4 batteries
An on/off control can be fitted to the Phoenix Smart Charger 12/50(1+1) IP43 by connecting a relay or an open-collector optocoupler output from a Li-ion BMS to the remote on/off port. Alternatively, voltage and current can also be controlled entirely via Bluetooth.
VE.Direct interface, Bluetooth and programmable relay
Thanks to the VE.Direct port, the Victron Phoenix Smart Charger 12/50(1+1) IP43 is ideally suited for a wired data connection with a Color Control panel, a PC or other devices. Also note the VictronConnect app for Android and iOS, which you can use with any smartphone or tablet to control and read out your Phoenix Charger wirelessly via Bluetooth. The programmable relay can also be programmed via the VE.Direct interface or a Bluetooth-capable device to trigger an alarm or other events.
Required accessories
Please note that an AC connection cable is required to connect the Phoenix Smart Charger 12/50(1+1) IP43 to the power grid. This is not included in the scope of delivery.
