The Orion-XS acts as both a DC-DC battery charger and a power source, and offers a wide input and output voltage range. This is particularly important in vehicles with a smart alternator of Euro 5 or Euro 6 class, which often delivers too low a charging voltage even when the engine is running, or in situations with longer cables, as is common on boats and motorhomes, where voltage drops can occur. adaptive four-stage charging algorithm
With lead-acid batteries, it is crucial to keep the constant-voltage phase short after shallow discharges in order to prevent overcharging the battery. After a deep discharge, the constant-voltage phase is automatically extended to ensure that the battery is fully charged. The Orion XS offers fully programmable charging algorithms as well as eight preprogrammed battery settings.
